The managed objects tree gives you an overview of the objects currently managed with your monitor. See Managed objects for a description of the object structure.

Managed objects are structured on three levels:

Level	Description
Computers	Each computer on which a Server Manager runs can be visible to the Monitor. All FraudOne components managed by the Server Manager (servers) can now be controlled by the Monitor. The computer object groups together all other objects running under the control of that Server Manager on that machine.
Groups	Components running on a computer can be grouped together depending on their function. All ASV servers can, for instance, be found in the ‘ASV’ group.
Servers	Servers are FraudOne components (programs) managed by the Server Manager.

Level

Description

Computers

Each computer on which a Server Manager runs can be visible to the Monitor. All FraudOne components managed by the Server Manager (servers) can now be controlled by the Monitor.

The computer object groups together all other objects running under the control of that Server Manager on that machine.

Groups

Components running on a computer can be grouped together depending on their function. All ASV servers can, for instance, be found in the ‘ASV’ group.

Servers

Servers are FraudOne components (programs) managed by the Server Manager.

The Server Monitor provides two views:

View	Description
Computer based	The top level shows the computers, the second level shows groups, the third level shows servers. This provides for easy management by computer.
Group based	The computer level is missing. The top level is the group level, servers are shown below. Servers located on different computers, but belonging to the same group are shown on the same branch. This view is better suited for large installations, where one group stretches over multiple computers. In this view, the computer name one server belongs to is displayed after the server name. Some computer management functions are not available in this view.

View

Description

Computer based

The top level shows the computers, the second level shows groups, the third level shows servers. This provides for easy management by computer.

Group based

The computer level is missing. The top level is the group level, servers are shown below. Servers located on different computers, but belonging to the same group are shown on the same branch. This view is better suited for large installations, where one group stretches over multiple computers.

In this view, the computer name one server belongs to is displayed after the server name.

Some computer management functions are not available in this view.

Views can be switched by selecting the appropriate tab in the managed objects display.

Each object is color-coded to reflect its status:

Color	Description
Green	The component is running (normal operational status). Depending on work available a different shade of green is used. A server actually processing items is displayed in light green, while a server waiting for work is displayed dark green. This differentiation only applies to servers supporting the ‘waiting for work’ status.
Blue	The component is stopped. This does not reflect an error condition.
Red	An error occurred.
Gray	The connection to this component has been lost. This can be due to a network error, or to the Server Manager shutdown on the specific computer.

Higher levels reflect the status of all the objects on the lower levels. If you have a group with two servers in it, one of it running, the other stopped, then the group icon will be split in two regions showing green and blue. The same holds for the computer object.

Thus you can collapse the lower levels and still see the status of the items contained.

To expand or collapse object levels you can click on the handle at the left of the object, or double-click the object itself.

Computer objects also show the Server Monitor connection status:

•If you selected to receive log information from that computer, ‘[Log]’ will be appended to the computer name.

•If there has been an authentication error while sending a request to one computer, the computer name will turn red (see Authorization).

To issue a request to an object, you will have to select the object and:

•Select the request from the menu (see Menus), or

•Press the appropriate toolbar button (see Toolbar), or

•Right click on the object and select the request from the popup menu (see Popup menus).
