Changes in behavior

Throughout the Transact installer and user interface, adjustments have been made to reflect Kofax branding. These adjustments are visual and do not impact the product functionality or any custom themes you may have implemented.

ByteScout is replaced with OmniPage for barcode plugins for compliance and premium barcode engine options. Any batch class designs using ByteScout are automatically migrated to OmniPage or one of the other barcode engines in Transact automatically after an upgrade to version 2023.1.00, or during batch class import.

Kofax OmniPage is the newly set default OCR engine for whole page OCR and fixed form extraction. We recommend using the OmniPage Form template editor for fixed form extraction.

For import, OmniPage is set as the preferred PDF to TIFF conversion engine. For export, TIFF to PDF conversion remains the same, but OmniPage is set as the default in place of Ghostscript for PDF optimization.

With this release, Nuance is renamed to OmniPage, same technology with a more accurate name on the Linux platform.
