Regions Tab

The Regions tab has the following options:

Enable locator for

Select one or more pages from list of available pages. The All pages value is selected by default.

Tip This option restricts the actual locator to the selected page. If you want to restrict a specific region, use the Page option for that region in the table once it is added. The two values cannot conflict each other however. For example, you cannot restrict the locator to the first page and then search for a region on the last page.
Access

Select whether the content being extracted is within or outside of the drawn region. The Outside the regions value is selected by default.

The table displays any added regions with the following columns:

Name

By default, every added region is given a name. Double-click to rename the region to something more descriptive. For example, if you are drawing a region to indicate where a bar code is expected, name the region "Bar code" or something similar.

Page

This option restricts the region to one or more pages. This option is separate, yet dependent on the "Enable locator for" option above. This means that if the locator itself is restricted to the first page only, this option cannot conflict, or the data is not found.

For example, you cannot restrict the locator to the last page of a document and then try to use a region to find something on the first page of the document. Since the locator is already restricted to search the last page only, the region is ignored.

Left

The value in this column indicates where the region is located with respect to the left side of the page. Selecting a percentage value means that the region starts at that percentage away from the left margin. For example, a value of "100%" actually aligns the region to the right side of the page. However, you should modify this option only if you are not using a width of 100%.

Top

The value in this column indicates where the region is located with respect to the top of the page. Selecting 100% aligns the region to the bottom of the page, while a value of 0mm or 0% aligns the region to the top of the page.

Width

The value in this column shows the width of the region. This value can be specified in millimeters or a percentage.

Height

The value in this column shows the height of the region. This value can be specified in millimeters or a percentage.

In addition to the common Transformation Designer buttons, the following buttons are provided:

Add

Adds a new region with default settings to the table. For the best results, resize and reposition the region using the Document Viewer and your mouse.

Delete

Removes the selected region.
