General Tab - Bar Code Locator Properties Window

Use the General tab to configure the type and orientation of a bar code.

Type

This group contains a list of bar code types. The value for this option is set to Auto detect by default.

Orientation

This group enables users to select one of the following orientation options:

  • Auto Detect determines the bar code orientation automatically. This is the default value for this option.

  • Left to right indicates that the bar code is upright, reads from left to right, and is not rotated.

  • Down to top indicates that the bar code is rotated 90° and needs to be read from the bottom upward.

  • Right to left indicates that the bar code is rotated 180° and needs to be read from right to left.

  • Top to down indicates that the bar code is rotated 270° and needs to be read from top to bottom.

Length

This group has the following options:

Restrict length

Select this option to eliminate any unwanted bar codes from the results. This option is cleared by default.

Min. Length

This option is available only when the "Restrict length" option is selected. Set the minimum length so shorter bar codes are excluded from the results. The value for this option is set to 5 by default.

Max. Length

This option is available only when the "Restrict length" option is selected. Set the maximum length so longer bar codes are excluded from the results. The value for this option is set to 10 by default.

CheckSum

This group has the following option:

Enable Checksums

This option is available only if the Interleaved 25 or the Code 39 1D bar code type is selected. Select this option to help reduce errors if the bar code is misinterpreted.
