General Settings Window

Use this window to configure automatic update for a fuzzy database taking considerations for the import and update into account and defining how to load a selected database.

Automatic Update

This group has the following options:

Use automatic update

Select this option for a database that changes regularly to configure when the hourly, daily or weekly update is performed.

Use function or stored procedure

If Use automatic update is selected, for a Microsoft SQL Server or an Oracle database you need to select a function or a stored procedure from the list that determines whether an update is needed. If neither a function nor a stored procedure is selected, the system tries to check if the database source has changed and performs the update only if it has changed or if the check for changes did not return a result.

If a function is selected, the returned value must be one of the following formats:

  • For Microsoft SQL Server - "datetime"

  • For Oracle Server - "date"

Important The Use function or stored procedure option is available only for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Server database sources. ODBC and text file database sources do not support these so this option is not displayed for those databases.
Last import time

The date and time when the last import was finished is displayed.

Hourly

If "Use automatic update" is selected you can define an hourly update. Select the number of hours (n) and minutes (m) to start the update. Note that The next update will be triggered once this delay is over, starting the end from the previous update. You can set a value from 1 minute to 168 hours. By default, the value is set to 1 hour.

Daily

If "Use automatic update" is selected you can define a daily update. Define the point of time when the update is started on a daily basis. You can select only clock hours,12:00 AM - 11:00 PM. By default, the value is set to 12:00 AM.

Weekly

If "Use automatic update" is selected you can define a weekly update. Select one or more days and the point of time for each selection when the update is started. You can select only clock hours, 12:00 AM - 11:00 PM. By default, the value for a selected weekday is set to 12:00 AM.

The group Load Settings has the following options:

Load database on demand

By default, an activated database is loaded into memory when the Kofax Search and Matching Server is started. Select this option so that a database that is used only occasionally is loaded in memory, only if needed (for example, when a search request is sent).

Unload database when idle for

Defines a period of time in order to unload the database from the memory if no search requests are initiated within that period.

The Error management group has the following options:

"Disable database search if the database is in an error state"

Select this option in order to disable the accessibility of a fuzzy index for which the automatic update failed. The database status is changed to Error and any search requests from another Kofax application can no longer be performed. As a result the batch is sent to Kofax Capture Quality Control. If the option is not selected and an error occurs during the automatic update the error is logged and listed on the Server Logging Report tab; but processing can continue as search requests are performed on the last database that was successfully updated.
