The Configuration Element Editor offers a wide range of means to filter and inspect the particular configuration elements. It provides three tabs named Machine, Instance Type, and File to look at configuration elements from different aspects. All panels are organized in the same way and allow to filter configuration elements by selecting one or more values of their 4 address attributes. The difference is in the order of applying the values. Once a value is selected for the first field, values for other fields are filtered already accordingly. For example, the Machine panel provides the most natural way of filtering, from general to specific, and the order of fields for filtering is then machine > instance type > instance name > file name. Once a machine or several machines are selected, all other fields’ values will be automatically changed to accommodate only values that are valid for the selected machines.

Among the values available there is a special “*” value that means “ANY”. It is possible to omit a specific value for any part of a configuration element address and specify “*” in its place. It means that the configuration element will suit for every query in case there is no more specific result.

Important The * filtering is not operating like a wildcard in the selection panels. Configuration elements need to be created explicitly with the “*” value in the address attribute to be retrieved as a filter result when “*” is selected as filter criteria.

Fields for query parameters contain values sorted in alphabetical order. Results of filtering are sorted in chronological order by default.
