Settings

Requires a password to open the document

The recipient of the document must enter a password to open the document. It is not recommended to use accented and non-ASCII characters, since the opening of the PDF file in different viewers is not guaranteed.

 

User password

The password that the recipient of any document must enter to open the document.

 

Prompt at run time

Allows the sender of the document to specify a password at the device.

Permissions

Requires a password to change permissions

The recipient and the sender of the document must enter a password to change the permissions settings for the document.

  • Owner password: The password that the sender or the recipient of the document must enter to change the permissions settings for the document.
  • Prompt at runtime: Allows the sender of the document to specify a password at the device.
 

Document assembly and editing

Gives users complete editing permissions for the document.

 

Printing

Allows users to print the document.

 

Copy text and images

Allows users to copy information from the document to the Windows Clipboard for use in other documents.

 

Copy using Windows accessibility extensions

Allows users to copy information from the document using Windows Accessibility tools. This setting overrides any other permissions.

 

Edit comments

Allows users to add, modify, and delete comments added to the document.

 

Fill, sign, and submit forms

Allows users to enter information into forms.
