Authentication configuration

When used with Equitrac and Output Manager, the Unified Client for Konica Minolta supports all authentication methods:

  • Primary PIN

  • Secondary PIN

  • Alternate Primary PINs

  • User ID and password

  • Domain user ID and password

If you change the admin password on the device, in DRS, select the Uninstall and Delete action on the device. After the process is finished, select the Install and Configure action on the device again.

In DRS, you can configure authentication as on or off. Depending on this configuration, the following happens:

  • When authentication is on, the Unified Client for Konica Minolta (specifically with Equitrac or Output Manager) manages authentication to the device. After users log on, they go to device's Home screen (with the default configuration for decentralized workflows) or the Unified Client for Konica Minolta Launcher screen (with the centralized workflow option).

  • When authentication is off, the Unified Client for Konica Minolta does not manage authentication, and another authentication provider must be used. Common Access Card (CAC) authentication is the only other supported authentication provider. When you have logged on with CAC and clicked a Unified Client for Konica Minolta button, you may be prompted to log on to AutoStore.

When Unified Client for Konica Minolta manages authentication, it becomes the top-level authentication provider over other embedded apps loaded on the device.

You can select one of these authentication configurations for AutoStore:

  • None. No log on is required.

  • Windows. If the user credentials are valid, no log on is required. If the credentials cannot be validated, the user is prompted to log on by specifying their user name, password, and domain.

  • Custom Script. Users can configure a script in AutoStore to perform custom validation. Any authentication prompts included in the script appear.

Custom script authentication has access to all of the CAC information provided by the platform. The CAC domain and user ID are available for SSO with AutoStore only. For print manager authentication, the Equitrac alternate primary PIN or the Output Manager UPN fields must match the CAC user ID.

When the Unified Client for Konica Minolta is configured for AutoStore only and user authentication is required, an embedded client prompts for user name, password and domain.

When Equitrac or Output Manager is the authentication provider, you can do the following:

  • In Equitrac, configure the device for guest access. When users log on as a guest, standard log on prompts do not appear.

  • In Equitrac, use Function Access Control to grant or remove access to individual functions. In Output Manager, select Advanced settings for Konica Minolta. When users log on to the device, only functions they have access to appear on the device screen.

To configure Equitrac or Output Manager, see the appropriate sections of the help for instructions.
