Scan Settings

This topic describes scanning settings that are available for the Brother device, supported by the Unified Capture component..

These settings are configured on the General tab in the form settings. Select the Allow Changes check box next to any option to allow users to change the setting on the device console.

Setting	Description
Scan Type	Indicates whether to scan the original in color or black and white mode: Color: default Gray Black and White
Resolution	Scan resolution can be set before the initiation of scanning, for example the following values: 100 dpi 150 dpi 200 dpi 300 dpi: default 600 dpi Auto
Document Size	Document size can be set before the initiation of scanning. The available values depend on the geographic location. Letter Legal Mexico Legal A4: default A5 A6 Executive Photo (4"x 6") Business Card (3.5"x2.4") Folio Long Paper
File Type	The following file types are supported: PDF Single-Page PDF Multi-Page: default JPEG PDF/A Single-Page PDF/A Multi-Page High-Comp. PDF Single-Pg High-Comp. PDF Multi-Pg XPS TIFF Single-Page TIFF Multi-Page
Brightness	Indicates the brightness of the scan. -50 -40 -30 -25 -20 -10 0: default 10 20 25 30 40 50
File Size	The possible values are: Default: default Small Medium Large
Remove Background Color	Indicates whether the level of background color removal. Off : default Low Medium High
2-Sided Scan	The following options are available for scanning two-sided pages: Off (Default) 2-sided Scan: Long Edge 2-sided Scan: Short Edge
Skip Blank Page	Indicates whether to skip blank pages during scanning. On Off: default
Skip Blank Page Sensitivity	Indicates the Skip Blank Page Sensitivity in a scale from -5 to 5, based on the available features on the device. Higher sensitivity value means easier blank page detection. The default value is 0.
ADF Auto Deskew	This option enables deskewing if ADF is used. Auto Off: default

Restrictions

For available options and restrictions on scanning settings, see the documentation of the device on the Brother website. If an invalid combination of settings is selected, the device uses its default settings or shows an error message.

The following limitations apply for form settings, field settings, and scripting:

Only Basic form is supported.
If only one field is added to a form, it opens automatically when the user starts the workflow. The list or soft keyboard is displayed.
Button field is not supported.
Checkbox field is displayed as a list where the user can select Yes or No values.
Date field is not fully supported:
- Full validation may require scripting in onSubmit.
- Values entered in Restrict to date range are ignored.
- Date has to be entered manually in the specified format. If the user enters an improper value, an error message is displayed or it is processed incorrectly.
List field is not fully supported:
- It is not possible to add new items to the list on the device.
- Search is not supported.
- The maximum of displayed items is 50.
- Item description is not displayed on the device.
Lookup List is not fully supported:
- Either a List or a Lookup field need to have a configured data source.
- If multiple selection is allowed for a Lookup List field, it is displayed as a choice list with multiple select supported.
- If multiple selection is not allowed for a Lookup List field, it is displayed as a choice list with single select supported.
- Search and add functionalities are not supported.
The value entered in Numeric field is ignored if it is out of the range specified by Minimum and Maximum values.
Tree fields are handled as text field. To enter a value in a Tree field, use the following format: Root > node1 > node2

Add a space between the items and the ">" symbol.
The Label and the read-only Text field looks the same.
OnChange scripting is not supported, and not executed if defined.
