Supported formats: .docx, .rtf, .epub (<converter> := DocX, RTF2000, ePub).

Supported only with the following modes:

• OL_FLOWINGPAGE creates real footnotes and their references.

• OL_RFP creates only styles and marks footnote text and reference with the appropriate style (Converter.Text.<converter>.Styles = true must be enabled).

OCR of superscript numbers, as footnote references requires good resolution and quality.

Only Arabic numbers are supported in the superscript.

Footnotes to be detected must start from bottom of the page upwards.

Multipage footnotes are not supported.

Separators right above footnotes are detected and replaced by a fixed size separator positioned by Word. The output always contains a separator in case of footnotes, even when it is missing on the original picture. If any lines are below the footnotes, it is not detected to avoid false positives.

Multicolumn footnotes may work, but displacement from bottom may prevent the detection

Autonumbering is applied where possible, except when a missing number is breaking the sequence, for example page not scanned or other error. Some footnotes are marked with special footnote signs. In these cases, start number may be shifted to recover the sequence so that the same numbers appear in the output.

OCR noise, for example badly recognized formulas and texts containing random numbers, or ambiguous text can introduce false positives, resulting in non-footnote texts moved to footnote.

If the footnote reference is far away from the referred sentence by position, it may not be detected.
