Validation form database lookups

You can define a database lookup button that enables Validation users to populate validation fields with search results. These lookups can be used to populate only text, check box, and combo-box fields.

There are four types of database lookup button:

  1. Relational Database Lookup.

Uses either a Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Server, or an ODBC DSN connection so that Validation users can search for information.

  2. Fuzzy Database Lookup.

Enables you to use a fuzzy database so users can search for information.

  3. Locator Alternatives Lookup.

Enables you to select a result rejected by any locator as long as it has configured subfields.

  4. Associative Search Lookup.

Enables you to use an Associative Search Lookup so users can search for information.

Validation users use the results returned by the lookup to help validate a document.

The key properties for the database lookup button differ for each data source type so that you can customize the buttons.

Important Search result values overwrite recognition values on the validation form.

If a field is populated from a database, image coordinates are unavailable and no image snippet is displayed beside the field value. This behavior does not occur if a field is populated from a locator alternative lookup.
