Assign locators and subfields for voting

The locator list for the OCR Voting Evaluator contains three columns. The first two columns specify the locators to be compared; the third column specifies the field name where the results are stored.

This field name is created as a subfield for the OCR Voting Evaluator. The locator specified in the first column is the parent locator. If the voting ends in a tie, the final result is taken from the parent locator.

Note Although you can select any input locator from the list, select subfields that are produced by an Advanced Zone Locator. This is the only locator that returns a confidence value for each character.

You can assign locators and subfields for voting by following these steps:

  1. Open the locator properties.
  2. On the General tab, in the Input Locator 1 list, select an Advanced Zone Locator subfield to use for comparison.
  3. In the Input Locator 2 list, select a subfield from the second locator to use for comparison.
  4. In the Field Name column, click the entry and change the name from the default value. The name you define is the name of the OCR Voting Evaluator subfield used to hold the voting results.
  5. Open a test document and click Test to test your settings.
  6. Optionally, click Close to close the locator properties window.
  7. Save the changes to your project.
