Set the distance for a group of database fields

For each group in a Database Locator, you can define a distance that indicates how the database fields in that group are physically or geometrically related.

For example, to group Last Name and First Name, set the distance to "very close" or "same line" since the member fields are likely to be immediately adjacent to each other on the document.

You can set the distance for a group of database fields by following these steps:

  1. Open the locator properties.
  2. Click the Fields tab.
  3. In the Group properties table, select the group to configure the distance.
  4. In the Distance column for that group, select a value from the list.
  5. Repeat the preceding steps to configure the distance for each group as required.
  6. Open a test document and click Test to test your settings.
  7. Optionally, click Close to close the locator properties window.
  8. Save the changes to your project.
