Move zones

Since documents change over time, it is often useful to be able to move one or more zones so that they correspond to an updated reference document. If a new header is added, all the of fields need to shift down the page. Alternatively, the entire layout of a document may change. Having the option to move your zones around in groups can minimize the time it takes to update an Advanced Zone Locator or an A2iA Zone Locator when a document changes.

Note The A2iA Zone Locator does not support multiple selection. As a result, it is only possible to move one zone at a time with these locators.

You can press and hold the Ctrl key and click to select multiple zones. Alternatively, you can lasso several zones with your mouse or press Ctrl + A to select all zones. Press Ctrl + click to deselect a selected zone.

You can move zones by following these steps:

  1. Open the locator properties.
  2. Open the reference document.

The Document Viewer (zone mode) window is displayed.

  3. On the toolbar, click Selection Mode Selection Mode icon.
  4. Select one or more zones.
  5. Drag the selected zones with the mouse and drop them in their new location.
Important Alternatively, if you are moving Advanced Zone Locator zones, you can use the arrow keys to move the zones in single visible pixel increments. Hold Ctrl + the Arrow keys to move the zones in 10 visible pixel increments.

The visible pixel size depends on your zoom level. The higher the zoom level, the smaller the distance the zones are moved.

  6. Open a test document and click Test to test your settings.
  7. On the Project tab, click Save Project.
  8. On the locator properties window, click Close.
