Reduce address alternatives with regions

If you have a document that has several addresses printed in multiple static locations, it is possible to restrict the Address Locator to search for an address in a specific region of the document. For example, if you have an invoice where the customer address is always printed in the top-right corner, you can set up a region that searches only this area.

You can reduce the number of address alternatives using regions by following these steps:

  1. Add an Address Locator.
  2. Open the properties of the new Address Locator.
  3. Click on the Regions tab.
    The Regions tab is displayed.
  4. Optionally, if the address is always located on a specific page, clear All pages and then select the specific page where the address is located.
This restricts the Address Locator to search for addresses on the selected page only, and not on all pages.
  5. Open a sample document in the Document Viewer and navigate to the page where the address is located.
Important Ensure that this document is a good example of the documents you process.
The document is displayed in the Document Viewer.
  6. Back in the Address Locator properties window, set the Access value to Inside the regions.
  7. In the Document Viewer, use the mouse to lasso around the address on the page.
Ensure to leave a reasonable border around the address to account for larger text or longer addresses.
The dimensions of the region are displayed in the Properties of Address Locator window.
  8. Optionally, draw another reason on the document.
An additional region is listed in the Properties of Address Locator window.
  9. Return to the Properties of Address Locator window and Test your locator.
  10. Once you are happy with the results, click Close to close the Properties of Address Locator window and to save your settings.
Your Address Locator is now configured and ready for you to assign it to a field.
