Preliminary validation testing

To test your validation rules and the validation form, you can use Test Validation. The window that is displayed is similar to the Kofax Transformation - Validation module, and is used to test the validation form and its validation rules.

Note Even if you select a single document only from your document set, all of the documents in your document subset are shown in a batch folder. Since the other documents are not yet processed, a warning is displayed if you select one of them from the Batch Content pane.

You can perform preliminary validation testing by following these steps:

  1. Open the Documents window if it is not already open.
  2. If a different view is in use, switch to the List View Documents Window - Flat View icon.
  3. Add or select the document set that contains some test documents.

The document set expands so you can see its document subsets.

  4. Select the document subset that contains the desired test documents.

    The test documents are displayed.

  5. On the Process tab, in the Test group, click Process.

A progress bar is displayed showing the classification and extraction progress.

  6. Open the Extraction Results window if it is not already open.

The extraction results are displayed. Invalid fields have a blue question mark and valid fields have a green check mark.

  7. If you are happy with your extraction results, on the Process tab, in the Test group, click Validate.

    Alternatively, press F8.

If you are using multiple validation steps, select the desired step from the submenu. If you press F8, a window is displayed so that you can select the validation steps to test.

The validation form is displayed so that you can test the validation form and process.

  8. Edit the fields as needed on the validation form.

For example, test the extraction results, validation rules, and any error messages.

  9. When you are finished, from the Batch menu, select Exit.

The Test Validation window is closed.

  10. Optionally, edit your classification and/or extraction settings to improve your overall extraction results, and then test several documents again.
