If there are unnecessary lines on a document that interfere with extraction, you can remove them using the remove lines image cleanup method. You can remove horizontal lines, vertical lines, and special lines. You can configure Remove Lines image cleanup method based on line length, run length, and line thickness.

Horizontal

Use this tab to configure horizontal line removal. The following options are available:

Remove horizontal lines

Select this option to remove horizontal lines from an image. This option is selected by default.

Min run length (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove horizontal lines option is selected. Set this to the smallest size a run can be if a line is removed. Lines with smaller runs than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 5 by default.

Min line length (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove horizontal lines option is selected. Set this to the smallest size a line can be if it is removed. Lines smaller than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 10.0 by default.

Max line thickness (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove horizontal lines option is selected. Set this to the largest thickness a line can be if it is removed. Lines thicker than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 30.0 by default.

Vertical

Use this tab to configure vertical line removal. The following options are available:

Remove vertical lines

Select this option to remove vertical lines from an image. This option is selected by default.

Min run length (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove vertical lines option is selected. Set this to the smallest size a run can be if a line is removed. Lines with smaller runs than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 5 by default.

Min line length (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove vertical lines option is selected. Set this to the smallest size a line can be if it is removed. Lines smaller than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 8.0 by default.

Max line thickness (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove vertical lines option is selected. Set this to the largest thickness a line can be if it is removed. Lines thicker than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 30.0 by default.

Special

Use this tab to remove other line types. The following options are available:

Remove special horizontal lines

Select this option to remove horizontal lines that are not solid. This option is cleared by default.

Line types

This option is only available if the Remove special horizontal lines option is selected. Select one or more of the following line types:

Dotted lines

Select this option if the lines you want to remove consist of a series of dots. This option is cleared by default.

Dashed lines

Select this option if the lines you want to remove consist of a series of dashes. This option is cleared by default.

Min run length (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove special horizontal lines option is selected. Set this to the smallest dot or dash size. Items smaller than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 6.0 by default.

Min line length (mm)

This option is only available if the Remove special horizontal lines option is selected. Set this to the smallest size a line can be if it is removed. Lines smaller than this are not removed. The value for this option is set to 14.0 by default.
