MFP scan handling with or without image processing

TotalAgility can handle MFP scans with and without image processing. In TotalAgility, you can set up MFP scans in three common ways:

  1. If the Device Create New Job form is with a process that has no Device Scan/VRS profile assigned, TotalAgility pushes the scan settings to the MFP, and no image processing is performed. The resulting image always matches the scan settings shown on the MFP front panel.

  2. If the Device Create New Job form is with a process that has Device Scan/VRS profile assigned, TotalAgility pushes scan settings to the MFP, and after receiving the image immediately calls the transformation server to run image processing. So while the image MFP sends to TotalAgility is of the color and resolution specified on the MFP front panel, image processing may then scale the color and resolution based on image processing settings.

  3. MFP form scans. In such cases also, TotalAgility immediately calls the transformation server to run image processing after receiving the image from the MFP. The image’s color and resolution is scaled to whatever is set in the image processing settings.

For example, you may set the resolution to a specific value on the MFP, such as 600 dpi, but if the Scan/VRS profile used for image processing has the DPI set to 300, the resulting image will be 300 dpi (since eVRS scaled it).

You can prevent image processing from scaling the color depth or resolution using the EVRS only settings, which can instruct image processing to not perform any color or resolution scaling.
