Add document conversion profiles

  1. Navigate to Capture > Document conversion profiles.
    The Document conversion profile page appears.
  2. Click New.
    The New document conversion profile dialog box is displayed.
  3. Configure the following General settings:

    Name

    A unique name for the document conversion profile.

    Description

    A description for the document conversion profile.

    The description cannot be more than 255 alphanumeric characters.

    Document conversion timeout (Seconds)

    The time in seconds within which the document conversion should be completed; otherwise, the document conversion process stops.

    Enable Zip fle extraction

    If selected, allows the converter to extract zip files. (Default: Clear)

    Enable portfolio PDF file extraction

    If selected, allows the converter to extract PDF file from portfolio PDF file. (Default: Clear)

    Flatten XFA forms to PDF/A documents using Adobe Experience Manager

    If selected, allows conversion of XFA forms to PDF documents. (Default: Clear)

    Ensure the following:

    • Install the Adobe Experience Manager output service and ensure that the web service interface is available.

    • Configure the Adobe Experience Manager credentials in the Kofax Message Connector configuration.

    Note If support for Adobe LiveCycle is available, you can also use Adobe LiveCycle for conversion of XFA Forms.

    Convert to

    Select the required output and configure the settings. Available options are:

    None

    The document conversion does not happen.

    PDF

    1. To concatenate the PDF files selected at the time of importing, select Concatenate multiple PDF files. (Default: Clear)
    2. To convert the PDF documents to the ISO-standardized PDF/A format, specialized for digital preservation of electronic documents, select Normalize PDF Documents to PDF/A. (Default: Clear).

    3. On the Output PDF format list, select one of the following output formats for normalized PDF files:

      • PDF

      • PDF/A-1a

      • PDF/A-1b (Default)

      • PDF/A-2a

      • PDF/A-2b

      • PDF/A-2u

      • PDF/A-3a

      • PDF/A-3b

      • PDF/A-3u

      Note
      • If the input PDF file format is not compatible to be converted to the required output format, the actual output format may be downgraded. For example, if the input file version is PDF 1.5 and if the "Output PDF format" is set to PDF/A-1a, PDF/A-2a or PDF/A-3a, the output PDF document is PDF/A-1b,PDF/A-2u or PDF/A-3u respectively.

      • For a complete list of supported input file formats and respective output PDF formats, refer to the Kofax TotalAgility Administrator's Guide.

    4. To embed the source files in the normalized PDF file, select Embed original source file. This option is only available when Output PDF format is set to PDF/A-3a, PDF/A-3b or PDF/A-3u.
      Note If the input source file is of XML type, it is not embedded in the normalized PDF file.

    TIFF (Default)

    1. On the Scale to list, select one of the following options:

      • No scaling (Default)

      • Letter (8.5” x 11”)

      • Legal (8.5” x 14”)

      • A3 (297mm x 420mm)

      • A4 (210mm x 297mm)

      • A5 (148mm x 210mm)

      • Match best: This option matches the document size with the nearest available page size. These are Letter (8.5x11.0), Legal (8.5x14.0), A3(11.69x16.535), A4 (8.267x11.692), A5 (5.82x8.2677)

      • Match best Euro: This option matches the document size with only the standard European page sizes.

      • Match best US: This option matches the document size with only the standard US paper sizes (letter and legal).

    2. On the Image color depth list, select the color for the output image. Available options are:

      • Black and white (Default)

      • Grayscale

      • Color

    3. On the Image dpi list, select the resolution for the output image.

    4. On the Compression quality list, specify the compression percentage to perform on the output files. If 100 % is selected, no compression is performed.

      Note The Compression quality setting is only available when the Image color depth is set to Grayscale and Color for TIFF images. Compressing the images may affect image quality.

    Allow conversion for files with extensions

    Provide a list of file types to allow for conversion. Each file type should be separated by a semi-colon. If the import source is email, this filter is only applicable for the email attachments.

    For example, if you want to allow the conversion of PNG and TEXT files, specify .png;.txt.

    Allow conversion for files of size less or more than bytes

    Select an operator (Greater than or Less than) and specify a file size. (Default: >, 0)

    TotalAgility will only allow the conversion of files which conforms to the specified settings. If the import source is email, this filter is only applicable for the email attachments.

    If you specify 0, this field is ignored.

    Skip conversion for files with extensions

    Provide a list of file types to skip from conversion. Each file type should be separated by a semi-colon. If the import source is email, this filter is only applicable for the email attachments.

    For example, to skip the conversion of PNG and TEXT files, specify .png;.txt.

    Skip conversion for files of size less or more than bytes

    XML Rendering

    Note To render XML documents, you must select "Create document from XML content" when configuring Import sources. See Import sources.

    Page size

    Select the output file page size for rendering the XML files. Available options are:

    • Disabled (Default): The converted document retains the actual page size.

    • Letter

    • Legal

    • A3

    • A4

    • A5

    Page orientation

    Select the output file page orientation for rendering the XML files. Available options are:

    • Default: The converted document retains the actual page orientation.
    • Portrait
    • Landscape

    XSLT for XML rendering

    Specify the required XSLT code for formatting the XML file.

    Note If this field is empty, XML rendering is disabled.

  4. Click the Advanced tab and select the following flags to enhance the JPEG quality for PDF to TIFF conversion.
    • Smooth Flags

      • Draw smooth text

      • Draw smooth line art

      • Draw smooth image

    • Render Flags

      • No dithering

  5. Click Save.
