Field validation

Use this tab to configure field validation rules for a folder.

Field validation ensures that all folder fields contain valid data with respect to the user requirements. A field validation rule uses a validation method that automatically checks algorithms. You can use different validation methods in a validation rule.

  1. Navigate to Capture > Folders.

    The Folders page appears in a new browser tab.

  2. Open the folder for which to create the validation rule.

    The Folder page opens in a new browser tab.

  3. On the properties panel of the folder, click the Field validation tab.
  4. Click for Validation rules.

    The New validation rule dialog box is displayed.

  5. Enter a Name for the validation rule.
  6. On the Type list, select one of the following validation methods and configure.

    • Business rule: To create complex validation logic.

    • Date: To compare extracted dates to a reference date and expected time period.

    • Regular expression(default): To create pattern-based restrictions on extracted data. If the extracted data does not match the expression pattern, it is marked invalid.

    • Standard: To restrict the length and number of characters in a field.

  7. Click Save.

    The rule appears in the table under Validation rules.

  8. The rules are executed in the order they are created. To change the order of a rule, select the rule and use or on the header.
  9. Save or release the folder.
