Work with extraction groups

You can lock and unlock, modify, delete and view versions of an extraction group.

To work with extraction groups, navigate to Capture > Extraction groups.

The list of extraction groups appears.

Unlock an extraction group

Whenever an extraction group is released, it is locked by default so that other resources cannot modify it. You can unlock an extraction group to allow modification.

  1. In the list of extraction groups, locate the extraction group to unlock.
  2. On the context menu of the extraction group to unlock, click Unlock.

    On confirmation, the extraction group is unlocked.

    You can lock an extraction group again. When you open an unlocked extraction group, a message appears to confirm whether to lock the extraction group for modification. Once you confirm locking, the extraction group is locked.

Modify an extraction group

  1. In the list of extraction groups, click the extraction group to modify.

    The extraction group opens in the new browser tab.

  2. Make changes as needed.
  3. Save or release the extraction group.

View extraction group versions

In the list of extraction groups, on the context menu of the extraction group to view versions for, click Versions.

The Versions dialog box displays the following details: Versions, the resource who modified each version, and the last modified date of each version.

Upon saving or releasing the extraction group, you cannot open its previous versions.

Delete an extraction group

You can delete an extraction group or delete a specific version of the extraction group.

  1. In the list of extraction groups, on the context menu of the extraction group to delete, click Delete.

    On confirmation, the selected version and all the lower versions of the of the extraction group are deleted.

    You can delete an extraction group even if there are jobs associated with it.

  2. To delete a specific version, on the context menu of the extraction group version to delete, click Delete.
    On confirmation, the selected version and all lower versions are deleted.
    You can view versions of an extraction group but cannot open its previous versions.

View extraction group associations

You can view the list of formatters, business processes, business rules and forms associated with an extraction group.

  1. Navigate to the extraction groups list page.
  2. Open the extraction group to view the associations.
  3. On the modeling bar, click the File tab and click Associations.
    By default, the formatters used in the current extraction group are displayed. You can view the extraction group associations for the following:
    • Formatters: The formatters used in the extraction group are displayed. The formatter name (for example, Date formatter) and document type name along with the field group name and field name, for example, Document Type2.Field Group1.Field1 are displayed.

      The areas where a formatter can be used in each document type are:

      • Field validation rules (of type Date)
      • Document fields
      • Columns of Table document fields

      By default, the child fields inherit the properties from a parent document type. To override a formatter for a child field, on the General property of a document child field, select the checkbox for Override formatter and select a different formatter on the Formatter list.

    • Process: The processes used in the extraction group. The process name and the associated document type name along with the property name are displayed.

      You can click a process name link to open the process in a new browser tab and make changes, as needed.

      The area that a process can be used in each document type is Post handling validation.

    • Business rules: The business rules used in the extraction group. The business rule name and the associated document type name are displayed.

      You can click a business rule name link to open the rule in a new browser tab and make changes, as needed.

      The areas that a business rule can be used in each document type are:

      • Document validation rules

      • Document field validation rules

    • Forms: The forms used in the extraction group. The form name and the associated document type name are displayed. Each document type within an extraction group can have a scan, validation, verification and document review form associated with it.

      You can click a form name link to open the form in a new browser tab and make changes, as needed.

  4. To view the associations of a specific type, on the View associations by type list, select the type of association, such as Forms. (Default: Formatters)
    The forms associated with the current extraction group, if any are displayed.
