What's new

This topic lists enhancements introduced to the product in Kofax Capture 11.1.0, including:

Operational efficiency enhancements

This topic lists new enhancements related to operational efficiency.

Display columns in Batch Manager

In Batch Manager, you can set preferences to manage the appearance, order, and sorting options for columns. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information (1542006).

Extended batch filtering options

The Open Batch dialog boxes and Batch Manager interface support And / Or options for filtering, along with filtering by batch fields. For example, you can filter on different priority levels (there are 10 levels of priority) and also on other batch fields, such as Region. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

Batch field columns in Batch Manager

You can configure up to five batch fields to display in Batch Manager. This option supports the ability for operations managers to quickly identify or monitor pending work in the batch processing workflow. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

UserID column for tracking batches in progress

The new UserID column gives you the ability to determine which operators are working on batches in progress. This column is especially useful to operations managers or anyone who may need to contact an operator to discuss batches that require special attention. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

Reroute multiple batches

This enhancement offers an operations manager the ability to route multiple batches to another queue after they are unrejected. After resolving an error that affects many batches at once, an operations manager can use this function to send them to the Export queue at the same time. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

Update document, page counts related to Partial Batch Export

When running Partial Batch Export, exported documents and pages are reflected in document and page counts, along with status bar totals in Batch Manager. Batch Properties now reflect the actual and pending document/page counts when the Partial Batch Export feature is in effect. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

New API introduced: original document properties preserved

A new KfxOcxEventMovePageLoose API is introduced to customize the custom panel (1304773).

Administration enhancements

This topic lists enhancements related to Administration functions.

Sort options for imported field type values

In addition to alphabetical order, you can sort the list of imported field type values in the original order, or customize the sort order based on your preferences. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

Ability to copy export connector settings to another document class

After configuring export connector settings for a document class, you can save time by exporting them to another document class that uses the same connector. You can also export field mapping values for fields that have the same name and type.

For more information, see Copying export connectors from one class to another in Help for Kofax Capture.

Ability to inject text layer after OCR processing

To support the ability to inject a text layer to PDF documents with bitmap pages after OCR processing, while preserving pages that have a text layer, you can use the Make imported PDF searchable and Ignore pages that already have searchable text options, which are available as batch class properties (1247866, 1314459).

As an alternative, you can update ACConfig.xml by adding the following setting that is applied to all batch classes:

<EDocProcessing EnableTextInjectionForPDF="1" InsertPagesToOutputPDF="1"/>

In order to detect and recognize both text and images when the page is a combination of text and images, set the value to 2. The default value is 0.

See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

Security tab enhanced for the Database Utility application

To ensure optimal security, a new check box is added to the Database Utility application: Allow to edit only linked users (1498389, 1498386).

Windows users linked with Kofax Capture

The Kofax Capture user API is enhanced with the ability to link Windows users to Kofax Capture (1435950).

Unnecessary batch class updates at remote sites eliminated

Updates to batch classes are now prevented at the remote sites if license information or polling settings are changed at the central site (1290313, 1290312).

Ability to launch the Administration module without Administrator's rights

Now you can launch the Kofax Capture Administration module without Administrator's rights. However, some functionalities requiring Administrator's rights will be blocked at runtime (1263993).

Options to change ports

You can change default ports for the licensing, KCNS, and BNS services.

User Profile enhancements

This topic lists enhancements related to User Profiles.

Permission for deletion

User Profiles include an option for granting a user or group the rights to delete batches, folders, documents, or pages from applicable modules or Batch Manager. Use this function to ensure that deletions are made only by authorized users. See Help for Kofax Capture for more information.

Account lockout for non-linked users

To comply with security requirements for enterprise customers, authentication of non-linked users supports account lockout to prevent malicious attacks. When configuring user profiles, the Kofax Capture administrator can set the following limitations:

  • Account Lockout Threshold (invalid logon attempts)

  • Account Lockout Duration (in minutes)

For more information, see User Profiles window - Lockout tab in Help for Kofax Capture.

Analytics, Reporting enhancements

This topic lists enhancements related to Analytics and Reporting capabilities.

Storing timestamps in milliseconds

Timestamps in milliseconds for statistical tables are based on the date and time on the database server, rather than the time on individual workstations.

Tracking for disabled batch classes

When batch classes are disabled, the information is tracked in the administration and batch class audit data.

Tracking for in-progress batches

To improve the accuracy of data in Kofax Analytics for Capture views, information on in-progress batches is available, including the operator, station, site, and more.

Customizations

This section lists enhancements related to customizations.

Retaining KTM Project assignment when using ImportBatchClasses()

When using the ImportBatchClasses() method to import batch classes, the KTM project is included in the .cab file but not assigned to the batch class. This method imports batch classes including KTM projects without requiring additional steps to map the KTM project to the batch class manually (1125066).

Custom panel API: Method to enumerate selected items

Custom panels can return a list of selected items similar to the ActiveDocuments, ActiveFolders, and other properties. As a result, custom panel users can determine which items have been selected by the operator when multiple items are selected.

Update Enum List for KfxAPIApplicationFunctionList

KfxAPIApplicationFunctionList includes a list of items that can be blocked or restored from menu bars, toolbars, buttons, and keyboard accelerators. The list is updated to include all items available in the Kofax Capture interface, including:

  • Rescan

  • Reject button

  • All button

  • Layout button

  • Mark as non-blank

Load custom panel per batch class

You can configure custom panels to load per batch class to reduce deployment costs by having a consolidated deployment supporting multiple lines of business.

Publish check for User Tracking

When the Kofax Analytics for Capture Workflow Agent is used, the IsUserTrackingEnabled property verifies whether the User Tracking feature is enabled for use with this Workflow Agent. User Tracking must be active to collect data for use with Kofax Analytics for Capture.

Workflow Agent API

TranslateAscentCaptureValues functionality is added to the Workflow Agent API to support easy resolution of Kofax Capture macros at runtime.

General enhancements

This topic lists general enhancements to the Kofax Capture product.

Dependencies on older Visual C++ Redistributables removed

Kofax Capture 11.1.0 no longer has any dependency on older C++ Redistributables for versions 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012.

Note If you continue working with Kofax VRS 5.1.1 or earlier, the dependency on Visual C++ 2008 Redistributables remains in effect.

Support for Oracle Database 18c and 19c

Kofax Capture 11.1.0 adds support for Oracle Database 18c and 19c.

Support for new image storage format

This enhancement supports a new image storage option TIFF-G4/TIFF-LZW/TIFF-JPEG in the batch class settings (1555350, 1306600, 1306599).

IPv6 protocol support

IPv6 protocol support is added to the Kofax License Utility (1517242).

SuggestedValues performance optimized

Performance of the SuggestedValues script is optimized (1243492, 1314446).

Improved troubleshooting and log file options

To ensure successful troubleshooting, the following enhancements are introduced:

  1. The log file now contains specific details for errors similar to this one:

    The central site changed the published batch classes while they were being retrieved. Please try again later.

    Previously, it was difficult to identify the root cause of possible errors.

  2. You can copy the downloaded catalog (Classes.xml) and class files (BatchCat.xml) to the local folder for further debugging. To do so, add the following tag to ACConfig.xml and set the value to 1. The default value is 0.

    <ACConfig>
    	...
    	<ACIServer>
               <RSASynchTaskAlternate CopyClassFilesToLocal="1" />
    	</ACIServer>
    </ACConfig>

    Once the tag is added, the files are copied to the local Kofax Capture folder. For example:

    C:\ProgramData\Kofax\Capture\Local\BatchDB\catalog

    C:\ProgramData\Kofax\Capture\Local\PubTypes

  3. If errors occur while downloading batch classes, the log file now contains more information about these batch classes (1290311, 1290310).
