If you’re interested in older information recorded before you turned logging on, you can request this information from the computer by using the Computer > Get log history menu. You can also use the popup menu to do so.

 

 

You will be asked to enter the number of kilobytes of log information you want to retrieve. The server manager on the remote computer will parse its log file and will send you those last kilobytes of data starting with a new log line. If the log file is smaller, only available information will be sent. This request automatically turns the logging for that computer on.

The idea behind this is, that you don’t have to have logging enabled at all times to know what’s going on. If you suspect a problem, you can look in the past and see what happened.
