Configure the secondary server

  1. Install Business Connect on the secondary server as described in Business Connect installation.
  2. Open the Business Connect Server Configuration Manager, and do the following on the Database tab:
    1. Clear the box beside Use build-in database file.
    2. Enter Database connection settings.
    3. Click Test connection.
    4. Click Apply.
  3. Open the Configuration Assistant > Certificate menu and import the self-signed certificate that has been generated on the primary server.
  4. Open the Business Connect Configuration Manager > Web Server > Internet Information Service (IIS) and click Configure.
  5. Open the IIS Manager, select BusinessConnect, and select Basic settings on the left.
    1. Add the FQDN of the Network Load Balancer.
    2. Remove the default binding.
  6. Close the Business Connect Configuration Manager and the Configuration Assistant.
  7. Go to C:\ProgramData\Kofax\BusinessConnect\Config on the primary server and copy to the following files to the same folder on the secondary server:
    • privatekey.pfx

    • publickey.pem

    • SystemConfiguration.xml

  8. Open the Configuration Assistant and enroll the Business Connect Web Server on the secondary server.
  9. Open the Business Connect Configuration Manager and check if all settings are the same as the settings on the primary Business Connect server
  10. Start the Support Service and click on Test connection. Make sure that the test connection is successful.
    It is important to use the Business Connect Configuration Manager the first time when the support service is started.
  11. After the Network Load Balancer has been correctly configured, stop the Business Connect Web Service on one of the servers and open the Admin Tool webpage to configure the server settings.
  12. Start the Business Connect Web Service again and repeat the same procedure by stopping the Web Service on the other server.
    If you need to create a new Business Connect security key on the Security tab, always do this only on the primary server and copy the privatekey.pfx, publickey.pem and SystemConfiguration.xml files from the primary to the secondary server.
